Maki

everything points me
down that briar road
it broods like letterhead
sleeps like a form in a file
only to scream blue
wired and frosted and null
as the blue belly of the world

and buddha will pay your toll
shovel sushi, black-ringed maki
every dream of the deep
until he dreams you up
an afterlife

pawns and operas
celestial and linen
excellent and pearled
or maybe a twilight
when secrets are told
in confident whispers
